the husband and myself have both been feeling a little cabin fever lately. y'know, the winter seems like it has gone on forever, and we both felt like we were in a bit of a rut.
so we planned a short escape; a little road trip to visit my parents and nene. we were only gone two and a half days, but we packed in a lot of stuff. it was really fun for us and the kids. we got a "big boy" bed for little c., sweet m. got her hair cut, we went to a dinosaur museum/park, and we got to celebrate baby s.'s first birthday (even though her birthday is really today, happy birthday you cutie!)
anyway, here are some pictures of the weekend:
this one is so blurry but i love it because this is the way i see sweet m. looking at my mom most often. she loves her grandma so much.
right before we left, my mom sat down with m. and listened to her read. they took turns reading and it was so fun to watch them. m.'s reading skills have improved a lot lately and i think everyone was impressed with her!
i love visiting my family. being around them automatically makes me feel more like myself and more happy. i feel so blessed to have them in my life.

I love that post, so sweet. And your kids are just so gorgeous!
YAY! I'm so glad you got a break and a short visit in but you are SO BUSTED for not telling me! I would have loved to swing by for a sec, just to give you a long overdue hug :). Next time. Hope you're great. As always, wonderful photos!
It's so fun to get out and get away once in a while. I'm DEFINITELY getting some cabin fever. And one of these days you'll have to teach me how you take such amazing pics.
I love that photo of the three kids taking in the trails and the Dino park (which I loved as a kid too!)
Happy Birthday to sweet s. I can't believe all her dark and lovely hair! Lucky girl!
I miss family! Glad you go to visit yours.
P.S.--I'm getting cabin fever too (literally, I live in a cabin) so I'm thinking a day off to either Milan or Geneva! Hey, they are the closest "cities" to me and I haven't explored either very much at all!
What do you think!
stella,
i think you definitely should take a little trip! n. went on his mission to milan and he thinks you should go back there. he says you should go see "the last supper" (if you haven't already.)
HAVE FUN!
That's what I JUST decided and posted to fb. I got a thriller book called "The Secret Supper" and I am going to read it and then go to Milan for a day next week! Huzzzah! Any tips on how to get around/what to do would be welcomed! Thanks J and N!
Looks like fun was had by all! I am so excited for your new calling! I love serving in Young Women and I hope you do too. Those girls are going to be so blessed to have you as a leader. And you are going to have so much fun!
Love the pictures! Everyone looks so happy... I've got a bit of cabin fever myself...
