After reading your posts I am even more excited about Portland. Steve got the offer and we are probably moving there when he finished up school in May. It sounds like maybe you really will be my neighbor!

natalee,
congrats on the job offer! i think you would completely love love love portland. it's a little boulder-ish, y'know? and i've heard from a lot of different people that it's a great place to raise a family :)
if we do move, it'll definitely be a few years in the future. but i love portland so much that i really want to do it. so save a place for us!

Dear Jo,
A. You can't move. That would make many of us here way too sad. Do you really want to make me sad? You just CAN'T move!
B. The parasol is absolutely lovely, and I can't wait til I can buy delicate fancies like that for my girls! At this point, even Kyra is WAY to destructive for something THAT nice!
C. Here is the recipe for the
rosemary bread:

1 Tbsp. yeast
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 cup water

let proof (sit for 5 minutes)
add
1 tsp. salt
2.5 cups flour
1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary (you can have some of mine if you want!)

mix well and knead well. set in warm place to rise for one hour or until doubled in size. punch down and split into two dough balls. (I think some people even flatten the bread out a little, but I left mine rounded in a ball.)
spread melted butter over the top and sprinkle 1 Tbsp. rosemary over the top. (I even added some minced garlic to the top, and it was really yummy.)
Bake at 450 F. for about 15 minutes or until it is a beautiful golden brown on top!

PS. I should have said the 1 cup water should be warm--not too hot, but not cold either!
I took a closer look at the instructions and it said to let the dough rise again after you've embellished it and prepped it. (sprinkle with coarse salt too. for like 45 minutes. then bake it. sorry i didn't look closer the first time!
